Klear-vol Essential oils for Inhalation

January 22, 2018

During my families awful experience with the Australian flu we were extremely grateful for the Klear-vol capsules that I had obtained in my goody bag at last year’s blog on conference. I hadn’t really paid any attention to the capsules and had just put them in the cupboard.

I was the first one to come down with the flu and paracetamol wasn’t helping my sore head. My husband went to our local pharmacy to get advice on other medications. The pharmacist advised on stronger pain relief and vapour essential oils to help clear my head to relieve the pressure. The pain relief was to target the pain and the essential oils were to clear my head and relieve the sinus pressure.

My husband came home with some menthol crystals that needed to be dissolved in hot water and stronger pain relief. I tried the crystals and they did help but they soon lost the potency and didn’t last very long. I remembered the Klear-vol capsules were an essential oil so I thought I would give them a try.

I followed the instructions and before going to bed that night I squeezed one of the capsules onto a handkerchief and placed it by my bed. The smell of the Klear-vol capsules wasn’t as strong as the menthol crystals so I didn’t expect it to work. The menthol crystals had stung my eyes but the capsules didn’t. As the capsules are targeted more at children I didn’t expect them to work for me. However I was wrong, they actually lasted most of the night and although in terrible pain with the flu throughout my body, my head became clearer and my sinus pains were dramatically reduced.

So what are Klear-Vol capsules you might ask, as I had never heard of them before?

Klear-vol capsules are essential oils with soothing natural vapours for day and night. Klear-vol contains soothing natural aromatic oils such as pine, thymol and menthol. These aromatic vapours are suitable from 3 months upwards. These are formulated in a gelatine capsule with sodium benzoate, sorbitol, glycerine, preservatives (methyl parabens, propyl parabens), purified water and apple green colour.

The capsules can be used by cutting the tip of one capsule and squeezing the contents on to a handkerchief nearby or into a pint of hot water and inhale the vapour freely. You must avoid direct skin contact with the vapours so they shouldn’t be placed on a pillowcase. The handkerchief you have used to squeeze them onto must also be secured safely out of reach from skin contact.

Providing you follow these simple instructions, they work fantastically and I would highly recommend them. Because they are safe to use from as young as 3 months old they are a must for your families medicine collection in times of need. Unfortunately, my 7-year-old son and my 14-year-old daughter also had the Australian flu, they were both very congested and these capsules also helped ease their sinus pressure and helped aid in some relief.

My son and daughter actually liked the smell of these capsules and said they didn’t sting their eyes like the menthol crystals had. They had complained about the crystals when I had been using them to start with saying the scent was stinging their eyes and burning their throats. Although these capsules are strong the scent from them is different and clears the air without being too harsh.

These capsules are also perfect to use for my childminding job, I never care for children under 3 months so I can safely use them in my house if myself or any of the children are congested. The Klear‑Vol formulation releases soothing essential oils over many hours, this really helps to relieve the pressure of sinus congestion. If only mild congestion these capsules would stop the need for pain relief. I try not to use paracetamol to often so these capsules can eliminate the need which is an added bonus.

Asthmatics should not inhale essential oils, so make sure to seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before using Klear‑Vol. Also, seek advice before using if you or your child suffer from epilepsy, have skin allergies or you are pregnant.
