Christmas Gift Ideas!

Are you stuck for ideas this Christmas? I’ve been trying to get organised this weekend and have been getting a few orders in for Christmas. The hardest people to buy things for are my friends two boys. We always limit our spend £10 each, her boys are one aged 9 and the other is 11. It is getting harder to buy for them as they have very expensive taste and to get a decent present for £10 it’s not very easy.

Well after a bit of scanning the internet I’ve found the perfect gifts and lucky for me I was able to get the special edition sets sent out for review purposes. So if your also looking for something to purchase as a gift this year that’s around £10 then this might just help you too.

Lego BrickHeadz is a line of cool Lego toys aimed at older children. They are aged from 10+ and are a little bit more challenging to build than standard Lego sets. They were first unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in 2016 with exclusive sets. They are available in lots of different popular characters, fit perfectly on a desk and come with a display stand.

As the boys are massive fans of The Pirates Of The Caribbean I picked Captain Jack Sparrow, and Captain Armando Salazar both characters from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The Captain Jack Sparrow character is an excellent resemblance with colourful LEGO System bricks that recreate all of his iconic details. The character has a belt, headband, long flowing hair, a buildable detachable cutlass in hand and stands on a baseplate with the series number and BrickHeadz icon for easy display. Sparrow stands over 2” (7cm) tall without the baseplate. Baseplate measures over 1” (4cm) square and under 1” (1cm) high. It includes 109 pieces.

The Captain Armando Salazar character really mirrors his appearance with special LEGO System bricks to capture his signature details. He has buildable hair, scars, decorated waistcoat with buttons and a buildable detachable cutlass. This set also includes a baseplate with his series number for putting him on display. It also measures the same as Captain Jack Sparrow and comes with 118 pieces.

The boys both love LEGO construction and like collecting things. There are lots of Lego BrickHeadz characters to collect that are created from favourite movies, TV series, games and comics. You can even mix up the LEGO BrickHeadz construction characters to create supercool hybrids of your own amazing characters.

The Lego BrickHeadz are available at different price ranges depending on which ones you buy. Some sets are available for two for £15 so search online for current prices.

You can also go and check them out here.

I have also got both the boys a pot of glow in the dark putty. The putty is great you can stretch it, squish it or simply let it ooze through your hands. The putty is super versatile and great fun to play with. The special edition one I have got for the boys glows in the dark.

The putty comes in a wide range of colours and they all come in a tin pot to keep it stored inside. You can find the putty here.

My children absolutely love the stuff and it makes a great gift for children and is also small enough to pop in a Christmas stocking. It’s suitable for ages three and up. Check out the YouTube video below where I show you all of the putty we have after my science experiment.

I was also sent another cool set that is available at the Entertainer Toy Store. Nickelodeon Experimake Colourful Crystal Creations.

With this set, you can make and grow all kinds of colourful crystal creations, make a crystalised star, a fish in a dish and even some secret messages. All the accessories you need for these experiments are included along with a user manual that is created by scientists.

The Nickelodeon Experimake sets have been specially designed by scientists to encourage learning through play. The sets make great educational toys that combine science and creativity by fostering curiosity and experimentation. There are lots of different Experimake set's to choose from, you can view the choices here.

All the sets are ideal for ages eight and up.

I was sent these toys to review, as always all thoughts and opinions remain my own.

I hope this helps give you some ideas for Christmas gifts. Thank you for taking the time to read.
